Newhart Family Theatre
The Newhart is located on the 2nd floor of the Mundelein Center for the Fine and Performing arts. An intimate thrust stage and state-of-the-art technical equipment characterize our primary Dance and Theatre performance venue, providing the ideal environment for our students to grow and explore, while providing our audiences with the comfort and professionalism that they’ve come to expect.
The Newhart Family Theatre was dedicated in October 2012, in conjunction with the reopening of the Mundelein building as the Mundelein Center for the Fine and Performing Arts. The theatre is so named on behalf of the generous donations of alumnus actor and comedian Bob Newhart, who graduated from Loyola’s Quinlan School of Business in 1952, and his family. All three of Newhart’s sisters attended Mundelein College, the original identity of the building.
Underground Laboratory Theatre
The Underground is our experimental studio space, home to most of our student productions. It is located on the basement level of the Mundelein Center for the Fine and Performing Arts. This highly convertible black box theatre plays host to the rich experimentation and creativity of our student Theatre artists.
